New Zealand Kannada Koota da Sadasyare mattu Snehitare
The Executive Committee thanks the members of New Zealand Kannada Koota for the trust reposed in us, and welcomes all members of the Koota and fellow Kiwi Kannadigas for an exciting new term. Our mission for 2010-2012, outlined below, highlights our commitment to developing the Kannada Koota as a vibrant, cohesive and inclusive community organisation. In particular, we plan to strengthen the participation of children in educational and cultural activities. We would like to dedicate our service to the next generation.
On 10/10/2010 new executive committee team met for the selection of office bearers at our Kannada Kendra Fickling Centre. The present EC has unanimously taken decision not to fill the Vice president position for their 2 years term.
The following have been elected by the Executive Committee as the office-bearers of the Koota:
Sri. Prakash Biradar - President
Sri. Vasanthakumar Kenchappa - Secretary
Sri. Nagaraja Krishna - Treasurer
The executive committee team members are as follows
Sri. Govind Marathe
Sri. Sridhar Honnavalli
Sri. Natesh Marappa
Sri. Ravi Vaddagiri
Smt. Mangala Prabhakar
Smt. Usha Ravishankar

Smt. Parimala Vasudev
Change is essential for moving forward. To accomplish our goal of getting Kannada Koota recognized as one of the best community groups in Kiwi Land, we propose to rotate office-bearers and chairpersons of sub-committees from time to time. This will facilitate all EC members to acquire expertise and experience in different fields and activities and enable them to take on challenging roles. We believe this would also encourage the younger generation to be more involved and attract new people with new ideas for the Koota.
We have set challenging goals for the two-year term of the new Executive Committee. These include:
- Revision of Constitution
- Reviving Kannada language classes
- Computerisation of Kannada Library
- Active use of Kannada Koota website for communication with the members
- Developing a database of Koota membership
- Launching a membership drive
New Zealand Kannada Koota was established in 1994 and has seen many ups and downs in membership since then. The strength and value of the Koota comes from an informed and engaged body of members. Working together, we can fulfil the vision of the Koota as a strong, vibrant and inclusive community group. In particular, we request each one of you to encourage Kannada families who are not presently members to take membership of the Koota. To promote more active engagement with the Koota and the community, we propose the creation of:
- Youth Forum
- Women's Forum
- Senior Citizens' Forum
Operating under the banner of New Zealand Kannada Koota, these wings will work within the NZKK frame work andfunctionally independent. Each of them will have individual working groups and activities. We request interested members to get in touch with us as soon as possible, so we can take the matter forward.
We look forward to a great term ahead and to your continued support, ideas and feedback.
